Deep green lacquer, restored plasterwork, candlelight.
A bourgeois apartment near the Vieux-Port, restored around its surviving ceiling rose and mouldings. Every layer of later paint was removed before the panelling was lacquered in a deep, near-black green.
Antique walnut furniture was reconditioned and re-upholstered rather than replaced, and the crystal chandelier rewired to a dimmed, warm circuit.
